Green Buildings
Overview

Climate change along with increasing energy costs mean that the efficient use of energy is a now major priority across many sectors of our society. Studies have shown that buildings represent 40% of all energy consumption and therefore have great energy saving potential. KNX meets the top Energy Performance Class as per EN 15232 and is ideally suited to meeting the now stringent Energy Performance requirements for new buildings. Studies prove that the application of KNX technology significantly reduces the energy budget.

Typical figures for energy savings with KNX resulting from studies carried out show:

Up to 60% with Lighting control
Up to 50% with KNX Individual Room Heating Control
Up to 40% with shading control
Up to 60% with KNX ventilation control
Standard installations, which also require more work and material input, can only fulfil energy saving requirements to a certain extent. Whereas studies have shown that maximum energy savings can only be achieved by installations that use modern intelligent building technology based on bus and communications systems which are able to utilize cross functional sensors and actuators to combine the various building functions.
A primary aim of Building Evolution is to provide building owners with a control system that will help to attain a truly sustainable building. While the initial capital costs of a KNX installation can be higher than a standard installation the payback period can be short. So by choosing KNX means that you recognise that the life cycle costs and sustainability of a building are as important as the initial capital costs. In other words – invest to save.
